I would like to contribute to the discussion about plastination. There are many misunderstanding concerning the technique as well as the use of plastinates. Most plastinates are actually not in exhibtions, like Bodywords, Bodies, the universe within, but in research and teaching institutions. The field of lay instruction also plays an important role. Most important: the method is not limited to human cadavers. Many plastinates are prepared from animal tissue, to be used for veterinary instruction or to explain anatomy in general. If you want to understand how a joint is constructed, it is extremely helpful to look at a large joint, eg from a horse.
